Neighbourhood Policing
In April 2006, Hartlepool was chosen as the Cleveland Police pilot area for neighbourhood policing following successful work by the police and partner agencies to engage the community and to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour in the Burbank area of the town.
Neighbourhood Policing is successful because it is about the police and partner agencies working closely together with the local community to solve problems in their area.
Under Neighbourhood Policing, Police Officers and Police Community Support Officers are more visible in the community as they are each assigned responsibility for patrolling a particular ward.
This allows Officers to focus their attention on dealing with the issues for that area which are identified and tackled with the help of the local community and partners.
