Breaking away from an abusive relationship can be easier said than done, especially when children are involved. The prospect of leaving an abusive relationship can be as frightening as the prospect of staying. Formerly known as North Tees Women's Aid, Harbour has worked for over 30 years, supporting victims of domestic abuse through dedicated holistic services.
It operates across Hartlepool, the Tees Valley, Durham and North Tyneside, offering refuge services, adults and children's outreach services, a counselling programme and a perpetrator programme.

Harbour Hartlepool Refuge
Harbour Hartlepool Refuge has six self contained units, as well as a room to accommodate emergency overnight stays. The refuge can be accessed 24 hours a day, and staff provide support and guidance to women and their children.

Harbour Hartlepool Sexual Violence Counselling Service
Harbour's counselling programme offers support to victims of sexual abuse or rape. Qualified counsellors work with males and females aged 18 years and over on an individual or group basis.

Harbour Hartlepool Children's Outreach
Harbour's Children's Outreach Team works with children aged 3-16 years who have or are living with domestic abuse or experiencing a chaotic lifestyle. Services include one to one support and group work sessions. The Children's Outreach Team also works with young people to promote healthy and respectful relationships.

Harbour Hartlepool Men's Programme (Perpetrator Project)
Harbour provides a programme for men who have been violent or abusive to a partner or ex partner and can demonstrate their intention to change their behaviour. The programme is voluntary and, after initial assessments comprises of a 30 session rolling programme of group work.

Harbour Freedom Programme
The Harbour Freedom Programme is a free 12 week course that will help women to understand the beliefs held by abusive men and the effect of abuse upon children. The programme aims to help participants to help themselves and increase their self confidence.
