BOGUS CALLERS – STOP, CHAIN, CHECK
There are many honest and trustworthy sales and workmen across Hartlepool, but sometimes criminals can gain access into a persons home and take their money by pretending to be someone they aren’t.
Anyone can become a victim of a bogus caller, but more often than not, it is a vulnerable resident that they target.
Don’t hire anyone that comes to your door offering to do work when you haven’t asked them to call and don’t let them into your home.
If you think a job might need doing get at least three quotes from different companies and don’t let them into your home until you have checked their identification and are aware that they are visiting.
Make sure another family member or friend is also with you when salesmen come round.
